UTNO Nominations and Elections Proceedures

Elections for seats on the Executive Council of United Teachers of New Orleans will take place in May 2022.  During the April 13, 2022 General Membership meeting, nominations for the Executive Council elections will be accepted.

“No member shall be eligible to hold office who has not been a regular member in continuous good standing for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the final date for nominations.” (January 13, 2022). Good standing is defined as being current in dues payments. (UTNO Const. Art. IX, Sec. I).

“All nominations for an office shall be by petition signed by at least two percent (2%) of the members eligible to vote for that position based on the membership as of January 1 of the election year.” (UTNO Const. Art. IX Sec. G). The minimum number of signatures needed on a petition is seven (7). 

IMPORTANT: Nomination Petitions may be submitted at the beginning of the General Membership Meeting (5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2021, by zoom). We ask candidates to submit Petitions prior to April 13, 2022, so that we may verify Petitions ahead of time. Petitions may be submitted electronically to askutno@utno.org or by hand delivery to the UTNO office at 2714 Canal Street, Suite 302.
